Your Help in Action
Responses to “Ethnic Cleansing” 2023 - 2026
PTC(UK) is part of a shrinking enclave, surrounded by and close to occupation forces that want to expel Palestinians from Gaza. The Psych-social team offers Community Healing, Guidance and Counselling for War victims. It provides a Psychological Resilience Program for displaced women and orphaned children, occupational therapy for injured children, self-care activities and therapeutic sport for young people. Amputees are helped to adjust to cope with life-changing injuries. A “Clown-Doctor” visits medical shelters to boost the morale of traumatised children. “Safe Space” activities revive a fragile sense of security amidst the destruction and chaos. Every week the team conducts self-care sessions for their own resilience and every two weeks they have online support sessions with the team in the UK. We continue to communicate directly with the outside word on Talk to Gaza zoom sessions and to conduct research.
In May 2026, there were two important publications: the Days of Joy team compiled a Sports Psychological Support Program manual and the Rights4Time project with Birmingham University and International Focusing Institute in New York produced a research report on “The Impact of Genocide on PTSD Treatment in Gaza” in which Focusing Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Interventions were assessed.

Delivering in Emergencies
With your help, our team can prepare and deliver projects to use in emergencies - during and after bombardments, COVID-like medical emergencies and environmental crises.
The team responded to COVID with setting up a telephone hotline for struggling families and providing other online therapeutic support. The Days of Joy storyteller recorded stories online and indoor exercise videos were created for a YouTube channel.

The support to families from the PTC(UK) team in Gaza included guidance on:
How to manage and cope with acute psychological stress.
How to provide essential home needs, in particular during the holy month of Ramadan.
How to provide medicine that the Health Ministry cannot offer due to a shortage in the Ministry’s stock.
How to find or create health supplies such as sanitisers, masks and gloves.
How to deal with the children in the house for many hours when they do not go to school.

Building Research Networks
With your help, we can build networks of research and solidarity with those in the field of mental health. PTC(UK) organises webinars (Talk to Gaza) with its supporters and the Gaza team to share their work and experiences and to explore topics of interest. There is an Arabic network of mental health specialists running online courses hosted by PTC(UK).
From 2020 to 2024 Birmingham University has linked with PTC(UK) and other organisations to conduct a research project called Rights4Time. This has also produced a training programme for the Gaza team in data collection and analysis.
In 2015, PTC(UK) worked with Kingston University, Palestine-UK Social Work Network and the UK-Palestine Mental Health Network to organise a conference on Trauma and Resilience. PTC(UK) gives talks at conferences and universities.
