Team update

Despite the temporary lull in fighting, it has remained difficult for PTC (UK) to keep in contact with colleagues and team members on the ground in Gaza. The medical situation with a number of our colleagues and their families remains unknown at this time.

It has emerged that the widening devastation has impacted additional members of our team over the last fortnight, with Dr. Yehia Awad, External Assessor from PTC (Gaza) begin the latest known member of staff to experience loss.

Home of Dr Yehya Awad and home of members of his extended family

Being resident adjacent to Al-Shifa Hospital, Dr. Yehia’s home was reduced to rubble in the bombing. In addition, members of his extended family in the same neighbourhood also lost their homes during the recent campaign.

Our team are now being asked to support the citizens and vulnerable people of Gaza while at the same time going through unimaginable pain and suffering. Despite this, in whatever reduced capacity they are able to provide the Palestine Trauma Centre continues to operate through the kindness and perseverance of the members of our team who are also trapped in this nightmare.
