PTC (UK) Gaza Staff Update

Eman Mater is a psychologist and one of PTC(UK)’s most valued members. Here she is working with Downs Syndrome children, manning the emergency phone line during the Covid crisis and showing David Harrold the ruins of her parents’ home in 2015.

She is known for her energy, optimism and keen sense of fun.

Here is her 18 month old daughter, who was recently shot in the leg by an Israeli sniper.

One beautiful child amongst thousands of beautiful children targeted by occupation forces. Eman, her injured daughter and her mother are trapped in the Zaytoon area which is very near Shujja’aia where intense fighting is taking place. We wait for further news and pray for their safety.

In this picture we see Fedaa Al-leddawi, whose home was destroyed and family killed. He is in Egypt still recovering from injuries. With him in this picture is Mahmoud Al-Hasanat, who is also a valued member of Days of Joy. He has been severely injured in a bomb blast and is in intensive care.

On 18th December 2023, PTC(UK) held a trustees’ meeting to discuss plans for the recovery of our trauma centre and support for our staff. They are all desperately working to survive. Their former lives have been completely destroyed. We now have the “trauma of change”. We are embarking on a new era for Gaza, for the Arab world and for the West’s relationship with the region. We want Eman, Fedaa and Mahmoud to be with us in 2024 to help create a new and better centre.

If you are able to help us in this regard, please consider donating towards our emergency appeal.

Palestine Trauma Centre (UK) is a UK based charity that works to provide adults and children living within the Gaza strip with access to psychological support and mental health services.
